Verse of the Month:

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into
Him who is the Head,
that is, Christ.
Eph 4:14-15

Discipleship Team Update

“Mariam” is a young Muslim woman from a wealthy family in a middle eastern country. She has the privilege of attending college—a rare event for a woman in that part of the world. For her thesis, she decided to disprove Christianity. Her professor told her that she should read the Bible and watch the JESUS film, to know what Christians teach, as a basis for her paper.

Over the next few weeks, she read the Bible and watched JESUS several times. As she saw Jesus lay down His life, the Holy Spirit worked on her heart and she was touched. She accepted Christ as her Savior and didn’t know what to do. She contacted our Campus Crusade office and explained, “I am from a Muslim family. If they find out, I will be killed.” Fortunately, she can read and there is some material available in her language to help her grow spiritually. For millions of women, they cannot read and there is no way for them to learn and grow.

A Campus Crusade staff member told Eric’s team about Mariam’s story two weeks ago. They were at a meeting, developing follow-up material for “Magdalena: Released From Shame,” a new evangelistic film from The JESUS Film Project, focused on women in this area of the world. It is just one of the many projects that Eric’s team is working on. Last month we told you about the follow-up film being designed for Africa. This month, we want to share with you about the other projects that we are working on and ask you to pray for the team as we pursue this goal. Here are some of the things we are working on:

Magdalena Follow up:
(1) a series of 20 short films
(4-5 minutes long) that teach women biblical principles and how to be a follower of Jesus in their culture; (2) a daily audio devotional that we will put on CD to distribute and broadcast on radio stations; and (3) follow-up booklets that will reinforce the teaching from the videos in a non-literate format.

Following JESUS Africa:
an 11 part video series that teach biblical truths in an African context. We are beginning our field test of lesson #! -"Assurance of Salvation" this month!
Please pray for our team and our African staff as we test this video, as the feedback we receive will help us shape the rest of the lessons.

Following JESUS India
Part I Leader’s Guide:

to be used by staff and pastors throughout India as they continue to use the video series that we produced last year. The Lord is using this video series in a mighty way. The staff now use it throughout India as a part of their regular ministry plan.
Following JESUS India
part II:
a 10-part video series that will continue the teaching began in Part I — taking new believers deeper in their faith and equipping them for ministry.
Faith Comes by Hearing Audio Lessons:
Audio lessons on a solar-powered device (the “proclaimer”) will be used in partnership with Faith Comes by Hearing’s Ministry. This technology will extend the New Testament to oral learners in their own language.
Anime` Project:
The JESUS Film is designing an animated version of JESUS, that will allow us to use the audio recordings of JESUS that are in over one thousand languages, in a way that younger audiences will want to watch. We are producing animated follow-up lessons for this project.
JESUS: Fact or Fiction:
We are overseeing the translation of Fact or Fiction (a tool that combines JESUS with answers to the top 50 questions skeptics have) into several languages.
Shellbook:
We are developing follow-up booklets, based on JESUS and Following JESUS. Our goal is to have a set of materials designed and translated into one thousand languages by the end of 2010.
New team:
Eric has also recently been asked to lead a new team of videographers and filmmakers that will create short films and other video-based ministry tools for several Campus Crusade ministries, to be used for evangelism, follow-up and promotional uses.

Thank you for being a part of this ministry. It is only through your faithful support and prayers that we are able to be a part of these needed projects. It is a joy to serve Him alongside you!

God bless you,

Eric and Allison
