African Follow-up Video

As we prepare, as a nation, to celebrate the birthday of our country and the freedom that we enjoy, I urge you to take a moment to do two things. The first is to have a thankful heart for the tremendous blessing and freedom that we enjoy. While this country is not perfect, we experience a level of freedom and standard of living that is unmatched. The Lord has truly blessed us abundantly and I urge you to take a moment each day this month, during your prayer time, to simply say, “thank you” for all that He has given to you.

Secondly, as we think of freedom, consider the gift of salvation that Jesus has given you. The gift of salvation and eternal life is something that cannot be matched or compared. Consider those who have not accepted Jesus as their Savior—those who have not yet experienced spiritual freedom. Take a moment each day and pray for those you know who need this freedom and pray for them. Ask Him how you can participate in the process of bringing them into the Kingdom and then boldly take the appropriate actions.

As we consider things to be thankful for, we are truly appreciative of both your prayerful and financial support which allows us to focus on the work the Lord has called us to do. We could not do this without you. Many of you have asked for more details about the African follow-up video, so this month we’ll update you on the status of the production.

Several months ago, the Lord brought a godly script writer to us from Nigeria. He worked on the script for months and was able to join us in South Africa in May for the script editing. It was a very productive time. We brought a team of 6 Campus Crusade leaders together to edit the script for the video series. Eric recently received the updated script and is in the process of making additional edits. Our hope is that a final will be ready by the end of July.

There will be 13 separate video lessons, each 30-40 minutes long, teaching a different principle from scripture. The topics for the lessons are: Assurance of Salvation, How to Share your Faith, Fellowship, Prayer, The Holy Spirit, The Gifts of the Holy Spirit, Studying God’s Word, God's Character, Christian Growth, Spiritual Warfare, Stewardship, Cultural Dynamics and Muslim Issues.

The lessons will be taught in a dramatized story-telling
format so that the lessons come alive for those who watch them. We are not going to “tell” them how to live the Christian life but “show” them what it looks like on a daily basis. We plan to film the series in 3 separate locations across the African continent so that the background, housing and clothing will appeal to anyone who watches it. We will edit the footage so it looks like it is one village, with the characteristics of three separate countries. It is a huge undertaking. Please pray for Eric and his team as they
coordinate the production.

We are in the process of finding the key production people—director, director of photography, production company, etc. Please pray for wisdom as Eric looks at several potential candidates for each role. We are thankful that Susan, the producer we hired for the India videos has accepted the challenge of helping to produce this version as well. She is a talented film-maker and a blessing to have working with us. Please pray for her as well—for wisdom as she helps Eric make decisions that will greatly affect the entire production.

Once again, we want to say thank you. We feel like we cannot say it enough. Please know that we don’t just say it, but mean it from the bottom of our hearts. May God bless you for your involvement in the process. You are truly helping to reach millions of souls around the globe!
